Guwahati Archdiocese Hosts Veneration of Regional Youth Convention Cross

Guwahati, 10 March, 2025 – The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) launched its Extraordinary Spiritual Journey across 15 dioceses of Northeast India with a solemn ceremony in the Archdiocese of Guwahati on March 9. More than 200 faithful gathered for this significant event, which coincided with the Zonal Youth Meet of the Guwahati Zone, uniting youth from nine parishes in a spirit of faith and devotion.

The ceremony featured the official handing over of the Regional Youth Convention (RYC) Cross to the Diocesan Youth Team. Rev. Fr. John Barman, MSFS, Regional Youth Director (RYD), Sr. Wansuk Mary Lyngdoh, MSMHC, and Mr. John Bora, Regional Executive Council (REXCO) member, presided over the handover. The event continued with an hour of Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament, the Holy Eucharist, and the veneration of the Cross, fostering deep spiritual engagement among participants.

NERYC- ICYM Northeast expressed heartfelt gratitude to Rev. Sr. Jorina Marak, MSMHC, Diocesan Youth Director (DYD), the Diocesan Executive Council (DEXCOs), Rev. Fr. Mathew Anchukandam, Parish Priest, and Fr. Gorseng R. Marak, along with the youth of Guwahati Archdiocese and the faithful of Sonapur Parish. Their warm reception and dedicated prayers set a strong foundation for the success of the upcoming Regional Youth Convention.
