ERODE, August 10, 2026: A 17-year-old student from Erode has secured a full scholarship worth ₹3.55 crore to pursue undergraduate studies at Brown University in the United States, bringing together his interests in mathematics, technology and public health.
Pranav Ilango, a senior student at CS Academy, Erode, will study Public Health and Applied Mathematics at the Ivy League university in Rhode Island. The scholarship covers tuition and living expenses for the entire four-year undergraduate programme. He has also received a 100 per cent scholarship offer from the University of Hong Kong.
Pranav began preparing for international higher education at an early age. At 13, he joined Dexterity Global’s National Scholar Development Programme, where he received mentorship and training in academics, leadership and problem-solving.
His academic record includes recognition among the Outstanding Cambridge Learners and a World Topper distinction in IGCSE Mathematics, placing him among a select group of high-performing students globally.
According to an interview with India Today, Pranav has developed a strong interest in mathematics, technology, software, engineering and data-driven problem-solving. He hopes to combine these disciplines to address public health challenges and develop solutions that can benefit underserved communities.
For Pranav, mathematics is more than an academic discipline. He sees it as a tool to understand complex problems and develop practical solutions. His choice of Public Health and Applied Mathematics reflects his interest in applying mathematical thinking, technology and data to real-world challenges.
Founded in 1764, Brown University is one of the eight Ivy League institutions in the United States and is known for its interdisciplinary approach to education. During his undergraduate studies, Pranav hopes to deepen his understanding of mathematics, technology and public health and eventually apply that knowledge to developing solutions for challenges facing India.
His admission to Brown with a full scholarship marks a significant academic achievement and highlights the growing presence of Indian students at leading universities around the world.
