Jesus Youth Telugu Region Assembly Renews Focus on Communion, Formation and Mission

Secunderabad, August 10, 2026: The Jesus Youth Telugu Region Assembly 2026 brought together members and leaders from across the region at HASSS, Secunderabad, on August 8 and 9, with a renewed emphasis on communion, formation, conversion and missionary outreach.


The two-day assembly began with community prayer and a spiritual reflection titled “Come and See”, inviting participants to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and renew their commitment to the mission of Jesus Youth.


Regional Coordinator Uday Bhaskar delivered the keynote address and presented an overview of developments within the Telugu Region, outlining priorities and the way forward for the movement.


A central component of the assembly was Listening to the Movement (LTM). Baptist Sunny Gudinho, National Coordinator of Jesus Youth India, introduced a synodal approach to listening and encouraged participants to listen attentively to God, to one another and to the movement with openness, humility and discernment.


John Sunny, a member of the National Council, led a session on “Conversion of Life and Communion”, focusing on personal conversion, deeper communion with Christ and others, and a renewed commitment to living the mission of Jesus Youth.


The assembly also examined the theme of “Conversion of Systems”, presented by Vijay Sunder, Regional Formation Coordinator. The session explored the need to renew structures, systems and methods of functioning so that they better serve the mission of the movement. The discussion also underlined the importance of women’s leadership and greater participation of women in the movement.


A key moment of the assembly was the formation and introduction of the Jesus Youth Telugu Regional Team for 2026–2028. Uday Bhaskar was appointed Coordinator, with Rajinikanth as Assistant Coordinator. Other members of the team are Mahi Godey, Mary Jalumuru, Sirisha Jangam, Pranay Reddy A, Sudeep T, Karuna Sree and Naveen Kumar.


Savio Bastian was appointed Lay Animator, while Synthia and Victor will serve as Family Coordinators. Harshita Rani will serve as Mission Coordinator and Vijay Sunder as Formation Coordinator.


The new team was entrusted with strengthening the movement’s mission across the Telugu Region through greater communion, collaboration, formation and missionary outreach.


The spiritual programme on August 9 included Holy Mass and anointing, celebrated by Fr. Sleevaraj, SDB, Regional Youth Director of the TCBC Youth Commission, together with Fr. G. Vignan Das, JY, former Communio Associate Director of the CCBI, and Fr. Ravi Teja, SHS.


The celebration provided an opportunity for thanksgiving and prayer for the new regional team and the future mission of Jesus Youth in the region. Adoration followed, giving participants time for prayer, reflection and discernment as they entrusted the movement’s mission to God.


The assembly concluded with a renewed commitment to conversion, communion, listening, collaboration and mission, encouraging members to participate more actively in the life of the Church and contribute to the growth of Jesus Youth across the Telugu Region.
