Chandigarh, October 25, 2025 — The Simla-Chandigarh Diocesan Youth Commission (DEXCO) successfully organised the Diocesan Youth Conference (DYC) 2025 from 21 to 23 October at St. Anne’s Convent School, Chandigarh. Bringing together young people from various deaneries across the diocese, the three-day event inspired faith, fostered leadership, and strengthened unity under the theme of spiritual growth, mission, and collaboration.
The conference opened with the arrival and registration of participants, who were warmly received with welcome kits and badges by volunteers. A lively Deanery-wise March and Welcome Procession, filled with colourful flags, banners, and spirited slogans, set a vibrant tone of fellowship. The Holy Mass, celebrated by the Chandigarh Deanery, marked the spiritual beginning of the gathering, followed by an inaugural ceremony that included the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and cultural performances. The evening’s inter-deanery presentations showcased the creativity, energy, and spiritual vibrancy of Catholic youth.
An interactive session led by the Bishop’s Team encouraged participants to embrace leadership within the Church and society, rounding off the first day with enthusiasm and inspiration.
Faith formation and skill development were at the heart of the conference’s programme. Each morning began with a Holy Mass, animated by different deaneries, symbolising unity in diversity. Throughout the days, moments of prayer, praise, and joyful animation energised the sessions.
Engaging talks by expert speakers challenged and equipped participants to live their faith more deeply. Mr. Geo Boby’s session, “Faith in Action,” invited youth to witness Christ authentically in daily life. Fr. Maria Antony’s “Digital Discipleship” explored responsible use of technology for evangelisation, while Fr. Powlish’s “Building Bridges” emphasised communication, compassion, and collaboration among young believers.
Workshops such as Creative Entrepreneurship & Innovation and Mission in Motion gave participants practical opportunities to apply their learning through teamwork and role-play. These sessions encouraged imaginative thinking about faith-based leadership and real-life Christian witness.
The evenings were marked by joyful worship and reflection. A Gospel Band from Delhi filled the venue with uplifting music, creating an atmosphere of praise and unity. The Rosary Procession, led by the Patiala and Shimla Deaneries, gathered everyone in a candlelit prayer walk that deepened devotion and peace.
On the final day, participants reflected on their experiences during an Evaluation Session led by Ms. Maria Jyoti, sharing heartfelt testimonies of faith and renewal. A session by Fr. Wilfred on the Social Service Commission inspired the youth to translate faith into social action and community service.
The Thanksgiving Holy Mass, presided over by Dr. Sahaya Thatheus Thomas, Bishop of Simla-Chandigarh, served as a fitting conclusion, expressing gratitude for the success and fellowship of the conference. The Award Distribution Ceremony honoured outstanding contributions from deaneries and individuals, followed by the Statement of the Conference and formal commissioning of the youth to live their faith boldly in society.
As DYC 2025 drew to a close, participants departed inspired, united, and ready to be catalysts of faith, love, and service in their communities.
