Dibrugarh Diocese Hosts Women's Jubilee and Convention

Dibrugarh, Assam, October 25, 2025: The Diocese of Dibrugarh came alive with faith and celebration as hundreds of women from across Assam gathered at the Margherita Divine Retreat Centre for the Women Convention cum Jubilee of Women 2025. Centred on the theme “Pilgrims of Hope: Women Journeying Together in Faith and Mission,” the gathering became a powerful testament to unity, devotion, and the transformative strength of women in the life of the Church.

From the very beginning, the atmosphere was charged with spiritual energy and joy. Women from various parishes joined hands in prayer, song, and reflection, expressing their shared commitment to walk together in faith. The convention honoured the invaluable role of women as the heart of families, the pillars of parishes, and the quiet missionaries of love and service in their communities.

Messages of inspiration filled the event, highlighting Mary as the first pilgrim of faith — a model of trust, courage, and surrender. Participants were reminded that, like Mary, every woman is called to journey with hope even amid daily struggles, carrying faith into her home, society, and the world.

Faith found creative expression through vibrant performances, songs, and skits based on the Jubilee theme. The performances were not merely artistic but deeply spiritual, reflecting the resilience, compassion, and joy of women who live their faith in action.

Moments of reflection and worship deepened the spiritual experience, with the Holy Eucharist uniting everyone in thanksgiving and renewal. Speakers and facilitators encouraged women to see their lives as a mission — to nurture faith in their families, to build bridges in their communities, and to bring light where there is despair.

The convention culminated in a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop Albert Hemrom of Dibrugarh, who spoke with warmth and conviction about the unshakable faith of women. Drawing from the message of Pope Francis, he reminded the gathering that a true pilgrim never stops walking, even when the path is difficult. “A woman’s hope,” he said, “is not only for herself but becomes a light for her family, her society, and the Church.”

The event ended with gratitude and joy as participants received blessings and words of encouragement. The celebration was more than a convention — it was a movement of faith, a reminder that the journey continues, and that women, as pilgrims of hope, are shaping the Church’s future with courage, compassion, and unwavering belief.
