Bangalore, June 3, 2026: Creativity, technology and mission came together as the Residential Media Course organised by the CCBI Media Apostolate in collaboration with ACC and AVE Studios, Archdiocese of Bangalore, drew to a close after a month of intensive learning and practical media formation. Conducted from May 4 to May 30 at Paalanaa Bhavana, Bangalore, the programme brought together 12 participants from different dioceses across India, offering them an opportunity to deepen their understanding of media ministry through hands-on experience.
Archbishop Peter Machado of Bangalore inaugurated the course and encouraged participants to use media responsibly and meaningfully in today's world. In his message, he said, "Media is a powerful gift when it is used to spread truth, hope, and human values. The Church needs communicators who can inspire people with creativity and responsibility." His message challenged participants to view media not merely as a profession but as a mission.
Organised under the guidance of Fr. Cyril Victor Joseph, the programme offered practical training in photography, videography, live streaming, audio production, AI tools, graphic designing and editing software, including Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator, Pro Tools and Logic Pro. The sessions were designed to provide participants with real-world media production experience through interactive learning and creative assignments.
Training was conducted by experienced resource persons, including Mr. Yelstan, Fr. Saji, Fr. Cyril Victor Joseph, Fr. Maria Anthony, Mr. Akshy and others. Alongside classroom sessions, participants worked on projects and assignments that helped strengthen their technical abilities, creativity and confidence.
As part of the course evaluation, each participant produced a short film or video project of their choice. The presentations reflected the skills, creativity and media knowledge developed during the programme. Certificates were later distributed to all participants during the valedictory programme.
Reflecting on the purpose of the initiative, Fr. Cyril Victor Joseph said, "This course was not simply about operating cameras or editing videos. It was about forming communicators who can touch lives through meaningful and value-based content." He thanked the participants for their enthusiasm and encouraged them to continue using media positively in their dioceses and ministries.
Fr. Maria Anthony, Director of ACC and AVE Studios, delivered the vote of thanks and expressed gratitude to all those who contributed to the programme's success. He said, "Media has the power to connect hearts and build communities. We are happy that this course helped the participants discover their creativity and confidence." He also thanked the Archbishop, the CCBI Media Apostolate, resource persons, organisers and participants for their support and cooperation.
Participants also shared their experiences of the training. Fr. Don Peter said, "This course gave us practical exposure and helped us understand how media can be used effectively in the mission of the Church." Mr. Anthony Raj, Rtrd Police Inspector, added, "The sessions were very interactive and inspiring. We learned not only technical skills but also teamwork, creativity, and communication."
More than a training programme, the Residential Media Course served as a platform for nurturing a new generation of communicators committed to service, evangelisation and responsible storytelling. As participants returned to their respective dioceses, they carried with them new skills, creative confidence and a renewed commitment to using media for the good of the Church and society.
