Goa, 13 October, 2025: Marking the Jubilee of Social Communications, the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman held special Media Missions at the parishes of Caranzalem and Dramapur on 12 October. During the celebration, Auxiliary Bishop Simião Purificação Fernandes of Goa and Daman highlighted that Mother Mary is the model of true communication, inspiring all to communicate with sincerity, faith, and compassion.
In his homily, Bishop Fernandes reflected on the twin significance of the day — the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary and the Jubilee of Social Communications Media. He highlighted five dimensions of Mary’s communication: through words, good deeds, thoughts, silence, and fellowship. He encouraged the faithful to become messengers of hope in their families, parishes, and communities. “The Rosary is a beautiful instrument that helps us communicate with God through prayer,” he said, urging all to use modern media — mobile phones, television, the internet, and print — to spread messages of hope.
Mrs. Nita Fleming, a member of the diocesan communication team, remarked, “Sometimes I think the Holy Spirit must also have a social media account, because He keeps sending messages every moment of every day.” Echoing the words inspired by Pope Francis, she added, “True communication builds bridges — from screen to heart, and from heart to Christ.”
The Jubilee celebration, organised by the Diocesan Centre for Social Communications Media, marked the culmination of a ten-day media education programme held in Caranzalem Parish and Dramapur Parish. Fr. Barry Cardozo, Director of the Centre, honoured Bishop Simião Fernandes along with the parish clergy and members of the diocesan communication team. The celebration served as a profound reminder that authentic communication — rooted in faith, inspired by Mary, and guided by the Holy Spirit — continues to be a mission of connection and hope in today’s digital world.
