Bishop Polimera's Festive Initiative Reflects Christmas Spirit and Community Empowerment

Eluru, December 28, 2024: A heartwarming Pre-Christmas celebration, organized by the Social Service Centre on December 21 at the APSS Grounds in Xavier Nagar, Eluru, Andhra Pradesh, united differently-abled individuals, schoolchildren and vulnerable women for a day filled with joy and empowerment. Presided over by Bishop Jaya Rao Polimera of Eluru, Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese of Visakhapatnam and Chairman for Social Service Centre, the event was supported by Vihan Charitable Trust, St. John’s Welfare Society, DSFS Special School, Manavatha Swachandha Seva Samastha and St. Vincent de Paul Society. The occasion also saw participation from dignitaries, including MLA Badeti Radha Krishnayya, Mayor Shaike Noorjahan Pedha Babu and other prominent figures.


During the celebration, ₹25,00,000 was allocated to sustainable livelihood programs aimed at empowering the beneficiaries through resources and opportunities to achieve self-reliance. The event featured cultural performances, gift distributions and inspirational speeches, fostering a sense of inclusion and belonging among attendees.


In his address, Bishop Polimera emphasized the significance of supporting marginalized communities as an expression of the true spirit of Christmas. Other dignitaries echoed this sentiment, highlighting the importance of unity and compassion during the festive season.


This initiative, made possible through collaborative efforts, not only brought festive cheer but also paved the way for long-term empowerment, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of those in need.
