Bishop of Eluru Highlights Power of Prayer and Faith at Liviri Church Feast

Visakhapatnam, January 19, 2026:

Calling the faithful to deepen their life of prayer and place unwavering trust in God, Rt. Rev. Fr. Polemera Jaya Rao, Bishop of Eluru, delivered a spiritually enriching homily during the grand Feast Day celebrations at Liviri Church in the Srikakulam Diocese.

Preaching at the solemn Holy Eucharist, Bishop Jaya Rao reflected on the Word of God to emphasise that prayer is the foundation of an authentic Christian life. He described prayer as a personal and living relationship with God that sustains believers in every circumstance. Faith, he said, becomes a guiding light when rooted in constant prayer, enabling Christians to remain steadfast amid trials, suffering, and uncertainty.

The Bishop urged the faithful not to lose hope during moments of difficulty but to entrust their lives completely to God’s providence. He reminded them that genuine faith grows through trust, perseverance, and daily communion with God, calling on families and communities to rediscover the transforming power of prayer.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by His Excellency Most Rev. Rayarala Vijaya Kumar, PIME, Bishop of Srikakulam, and concelebrated by a large number of priests, reflecting the strong spirit of unity and fraternity within the diocese. In his introductory address, Bishop Vijaya Kumar expressed appreciation for the deep faith and devotion of the Liviri parish community and encouraged the faithful to allow the Word of God to shape their thoughts, decisions, and way of life.

The liturgy was marked by active participation of the faithful and a deeply prayerful atmosphere, adding spiritual richness to the feast. The celebrations were coordinated with dedication and pastoral zeal by Rev. Fr. Prathap and Rev. Fr. Sanjeevi, whose efforts contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the event.

The Feast Day celebrations at Liviri Church thus became a strong witness to living faith and ecclesial harmony, strengthening the bond between clergy and laity and inspiring the community to continue its journey rooted in prayer, faith, and trust in God.
