New Delhi, Jan 19, 2026: Following an alleged attack on a prayer group in the Anand Parbat area of central Delhi earlier this month, Delhi Police has undertaken “preventive action,” a police officer said on Saturday. The officer clarified that no FIR has been registered in connection with the incident so far.
According to a complaint, on January 4 a group of local residents was conducting a small Christian prayer gathering at a residence in Punjabi Basti when several youths allegedly arrived carrying sharp objects and verbally abused and assaulted those present.
It was further alleged that the accused issued threats of severe consequences, which led to panic among residents in the area.
“Based on the complaints received, the accused persons were called to the police station and questioned. Preventive action was taken to avoid any further escalation and to maintain law and order in the area,” the officer said.
Police stated that the situation remains under control and that local personnel are closely monitoring the locality.
“Both parties were counselled. Necessary preventive measures under law were initiated to ensure peace in the locality,” the officer added
