Bishop Mathew Thomas of Indore Calls Faithful to Rediscover Christ’s Real Presence in the Eucharist

Indore, April 21, 2026: Emphasising the profound mystery of Christ’s abiding presence, Bishop Mathew Thomas urged the faithful to deepen their devotion to the Holy Eucharist during a well-attended seminar held in Indore on April 19.

The day-long programme, organised by the Indore Diocese, brought together nearly 400 women for a reflective engagement on the spiritual and theological significance of the Eucharist, while also exploring its resonance with scientific inquiry.

In his address, Fr. Richard offered a detailed reflection on the passion of Christ, drawing connections between the sacrifice on Calvary and its continuation in the Eucharistic celebration. Referring to the Shroud of Jesus and the face cloth, he highlighted how these elements point toward the enduring mystery of Christ’s sacrifice made present in the Eucharist.

Underscoring the Church’s teaching, he reaffirmed that Christ is wholly present in the consecrated bread and wine. He noted that this belief, central to Catholic faith, stands in harmony with reason and scientific reflection, inviting the faithful to approach the Eucharist with both reverence and understanding.

The seminar provided participants with a space to integrate faith and reason, strengthening their appreciation of the Eucharist as the source and summit of Christian life.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Sr. Regina, leaving participants with a renewed sense of devotion and deeper awareness of the mystery they celebrate.
