Bishop Malcolm Sequeira of Amravati Appointed to FABC Office of Social Communication

Amravati, March 9, 2026: In a significant development for the Church in India, the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences (FABC) has appointed Bishop Malcolm Sequeira of Amravati as a Bishop Member of its Office of Social Communication (OSC), headquartered in Bangkok. The diocese described the appointment as a moment of grace and honour for the local Church and the wider Church in India.


In remarks shared with Catholic Connect, Bishop Malcolm said, “This honour is given to my mission diocese of Amravati. I am deeply grateful to God for His abundant blessings. In His guidance, I will strive to fulfil faithfully the responsibilities entrusted to me through this office.” The clergy, religious, and lay faithful of the diocese of Amravati extended their congratulations to Bishop Malcolm on the responsibility entrusted to him. His appointment to the FABC’s Office of Social Communication reflects the Church’s trust in his leadership and commitment to the mission of evangelisation through communication.


Bishop Malcolm Sequeira has been known for his pastoral zeal, simplicity, and dedication to the people of God. Under his leadership, the diocese of Amravati has continued to grow spiritually and pastorally, encouraging the faithful to live Gospel values in their daily lives. His appointment to this Asian-level responsibility recognises his commitment to serving the Church with humility and vision.
