Vatican City, May 3, 2026: Pope Leo XIV has called on Christians to live with faith, freedom and fraternity, saying believers are invited to “anticipate heaven on earth”.
Speaking during the Regina Caeli prayer in St. Peter’s Square on the Fifth Sunday of Easter, the Pope reflected on the words of Jesus in the light of the Resurrection, noting that they bring renewed hope and meaning to believers.
He highlighted Christ’s promise to prepare a place for his followers, describing it as an invitation to share in victory over death and eternal life.
Contrasting worldly values with the vision of the Kingdom of God, the Pope said the world often prizes exclusivity and competition, whereas in God’s plan every person is valued and recognised in their uniqueness. He stressed that true human dignity does not depend on status or recognition, but on one’s identity in God.
Emphasising the importance of faith, the Pope said trust in Christ frees people from anxiety linked to achievement and social standing. He urged Christians to embrace a life rooted in faith, where each person’s worth is already assured.
The Pope also called on the faithful to promote fraternity and peace, saying these are central to the Christian vocation. He encouraged communities to become welcoming spaces that respect the dignity of every individual.
He concluded by entrusting his message to the intercession of the Virgin Mary, praying that Christian communities may remain open and attentive to all.
