Bengaluru Hosts Interfaith Gathering Celebrating Guru Nanak’s Legacy

Bengaluru, November 17, 2025 : An interfaith gathering titled Guru Vandana was held at Subodhana on Sunday to mark Guru Nanak Jayanti, bringing together leaders and representatives from multiple religious traditions. Organised jointly by the Karnataka Regional Interreligious Dialogue Commission, the Indian Social Institute, and Jamaat-e-Islami Hind & Work Organisation, the event aimed to promote the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and foster peace, harmony, and mutual understanding.


The programme began with a traditional keertan by Harman Singh and Manpreet Singh, offering a musical tribute to Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This was followed by a reflection from Bhatiya Singh, who highlighted Guru Nanak’s contribution to society and the contemporary relevance of his message of equality, compassion, and universal brotherhood.


Speakers including Zafrul Ji, Sr. Lalitha SJT, and Fr. Denzil offered brief words of appreciation, acknowledging the value of such interreligious initiatives in strengthening communal bonds. The gathering included sisters from St Anne’s of Luzern, St Joseph’s of Tarbes, and the SMMI congregation.


In his address, Bishop Susainathan underlined the enduring importance of Nostra Aetate and its call to build relationships grounded in respect and dialogue. He emphasised that interfaith harmony remains essential in a pluralistic society and affirmed the shared responsibility to uphold peace.


Guru Vandana stood as a meaningful expression of interreligious cooperation, reaffirming the commitment of diverse faith communities to work together for unity, understanding, and social harmony.
