Delhi, Aug 13, 2026: The Archdiocese of Delhi is inviting young people and youth animators to a special seminar aimed at exploring how the Church can better accompany its younger members while encouraging them to take meaningful action for the environment.
Titled “Accompanying the Youth: Faith in Action & Caring for Creation”, the seminar is being organised jointly by the Laity Commission, Commission for Ecology and Youth Commission of the Archdiocese of Delhi.
The gathering will take place on 16 August 2026 at 10:30 am at the Convent of Jesus and Mary (CJM) Hall.
In his message dated 4 August, Auxiliary Bishop of Delhi Most Fr. Deepak Valerian Tauro highlighted the importance of young people to both the Church and the country.
The bishop stressed that young people need spaces where they can develop a sense of belonging, encounter Christ and deepen their faith. Drawing on the spirit of Christus Vivit, he noted that young people seek companions rather than controllers, underlining the importance of spiritual and personal accompaniment.

The seminar therefore aims to encourage a more welcoming approach to youth ministry, one that respects young people irrespective of their caste, education, language or socio-economic background.
The seminar will not focus solely on reflection and discussion. Its central theme connects faith with practical action.
Participants will be encouraged to consider how Christian faith can influence the way young people respond to social and environmental challenges. The organisers hope the gathering will provide an opportunity to learn, interact, reflect and identify ways of contributing positively to parish communities and society.
The programme will also address the growing challenges associated with climate change and environmental degradation.
The ecological dimension of the seminar draws inspiration from the late Pope Francis and his landmark environmental appeal, Laudato Si’.
Bishop Tauro has called on participants to develop a greater commitment to care, conserve and preserve the Earth. The message places environmental responsibility alongside faith formation, encouraging young Catholics to see care for creation as part of their Christian vocation.
The approach reflects the seminar's broader objective: nurturing young people who are not only active within the Church but are also prepared to contribute responsibly to the wider world.
Each parish youth group has been encouraged to send one Youth Animator and two young representatives, preferably the President and Secretary of the parish youth group. The invitation also encourages the participation of one young man and one young woman.
The resource persons listed for the seminar include Fr. Deepak Valerian Tauro, Chairman of the Youth Commission, and Ms. Grace David, Coordinator of Catechetics at St Columba’s School.

The seminar comes at a time when youth ministry is increasingly concerned not simply with bringing young people into Church activities, but with accompanying them as they navigate questions of faith, identity, responsibility and purpose.
By bringing together youth leaders, young representatives and commissions working in different areas, the Archdiocese of Delhi hopes to create a space where faith and environmental responsibility can meet.
Ultimately, “Accompanying the Youth” presents a simple but important question: how can the Church walk alongside its young people while helping them become active builders of a more compassionate and sustainable world?
For the organisers, the answer begins with listening, accompanying and giving young people the opportunity to turn faith into action.
