Besant Nagar, September 7, 2024: Archbishop George Antonysamy of Madras-Mylapore and the President of the Tamil Nadu Bishops Council joined by his Curia, continued his annual tradition of walking in pilgrimage to the Archdiocesan Shrinew of Our Lady of Velankanni at Besant Nagar. This year’s walk was particularly significant, marking the preparatory year for the 2025 Jubilee with the theme "Pilgrims of Hope."

The procession, beginning at dawn, was filled with prayer, reflection and hymns, embodying a profound sense of faith and unity. Upon reaching the shrine, the group concluded with Lauds, the Morning Prayer followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary and Eucharistic Benediction, seeking blessings and the intercession of Our Lady of Velankanni.

Archbishop Antonysamy’s participation alongside fellow pilgrims symbolized his solidarity and dedication to the community, resonating deeply with the Jubilee theme of journeying together in faith and hope. His leadership served as a powerful reminder of the importance of shared spiritual experiences, especially in this significant year of preparation.

The pilgrimage attracted numerous pilgrims especially hundreds of Youths who were inspired by the Archbishop’s humble example of walking with the faithful. As the Archdiocese prepares for the 2025 Jubilee, this act of devotion stands as a testament to the shared hope and renewed faith guiding the community forward.
