Ajmer Diocese Hosts Catholic Mental Health Ministry Conference

Ajmer, 24 March 2025 – The Diocese of Ajmer brought together 55 volunteers from various parishes for the Catholic Mental Health Ministry (CMHM) Conference, recognising the urgent need for mental health support within the Church. Participants included priests, religious sisters, and laypeople, all committed to serving in the ministry.  


The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Rt. Bishop Oswald Lewis, the Apostolic Administrator of Ajmer Diocese, along with Fr. Santhosh Francis, Director of CMHM Ajmer Diocese, and Fr. Sijin George, Associate Director.  


Ms. Deepa Ramchandani, a psychologist, counsellor, and founder of Dhisukham Wellness Centre in Jaipur, led engaging sessions on emotional well-being. She conducted practical activities to help participants release negative emotions while highlighting the significance of self-care and positive thinking.  


Dr. Sr. Rani Augustine MSA, Regional Director of CMHM Agra Region, spoke on the role of Catholic Mental Health Ministry in India, while Fr. Santhosh Francis addressed the gathering on the importance of mental health.  


The conference marked a milestone for the diocese, tackling critical issues related to mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It called on attendees to “Empower minds, break stigmas, educate, advocate, and ignite action.”
