Aizawl, Mizoram, April 10, 2025 — The Aizawl Diocese Youth Commission conducted the Veneration of the Northeast Regional Youth Convention (RYC) Cross and the celebration of its 22nd Rising Day on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Cathedral Parish in Kulikawn, Aizawl. The event, attended by around 200 participants from various city parishes, began with a reverent procession of the Cross, followed by Eucharistic adoration and a Holy Mass. The celebration was organised by the Commission to mark both spiritual devotion and the dynamic journey of youth ministry in the region.
The Holy Mass was presided over by Most Rev. Stephen Rotluanga, Bishop of Aizawl, and concelebrated by Fr. James Lalruattluanga, Diocesan Youth Director; Fr. Gabriel Vanmalsawma, Assistant Parish Priest of the Cathedral Parish; and Fr. Stuwart Fernandez, Parish Priest of Kanhmun. The liturgy and choir for the mass were led by youth members, showcasing the active and vibrant involvement of the younger generation in church life.
Mr. Huimingam Jonah Chithung, Regional Youth President, was present for the veneration, representing the Regional Youth Council. Other key figures in attendance included Ms. Daisy Zomuankimi (RYS), Mr. John Bosco Lalfamkima (REXCO), and the office-bearers of the Aizawl Diocese Youth Commission.
The Aizawl Diocese Youth Commission expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Aizawl Diocese Choir, whose moving and spirit-filled performance elevated the entire celebration, adding a deep spiritual resonance to the proceedings. Their heartfelt singing led the congregation in worship, creating an atmosphere of unity and devotion.
The Veneration of the RYC Cross, coupled with the celebration of the Youth Commission’s Rising Day, served not only as a commemoration but also as a call to deeper faith and missionary zeal among the youth. It stood as a testament to the strength, unity, and commitment of the Catholic youth in Mizoram.
