A Life of Prayer Written in Ink: Sr. Maura Completes Handwritten Bible

Simla- Chandigarh, January 5, 2026: Marking a rare and deeply spiritual milestone, the Simla–Chandigarh Diocese has celebrated Sr. Maura CFMSS of Shimla for completing the full handwritten text of the Holy Bible—an achievement shaped by years of prayer, discipline and profound reverence for the Word of God.

Undertaken as an act of faith and devotion, the painstaking work reflects Sr. Maura’s contemplative engagement with Sacred Scripture. Each carefully written page stands as a testament to her perseverance and her desire to serve the Church through a quiet yet powerful ministry of the Word.

The significance of this accomplishment was formally acknowledged when Most Rev. Dr. Sahaya Thatheus Thomas, Bishop of Simla–Chandigarh, felicitated Sr. Maura and commended her extraordinary commitment, highlighting the spiritual value of such a personal encounter with Scripture.
