20,000 Tribal Faithful Gather for Bible Saba in Rayagada Diocese

Odisha, Feb 20, 2026: Nearly 20,000 tribal faithful from Andhra Pradesh and Odisha assembled at Sareguma for Bible Saba 2026, a two-day spiritual gathering that highlighted unity, faith and cultural heritage among the Savara community.


The event was organised in the Rayagada Diocese under the leadership of Rayarala Vijaya Kumar, Bishop of Srikakulam and Chairman of the TCBC Tribal Commission, in collaboration with the Savara Tribal Commission and the local organising committee.


In his homily, Bishop Vijaya Kumar reflected on the inseparable link between faith and love, praising the steadfast witness of tribal communities. He emphasised that the presence of God is revealed among the poor and marginalised, affirming that divine assurance is evident in the lives of communities that live their faith with sincerity and resilience.


Participants were welcomed with traditional Savara dances and songs accompanied by indigenous musical instruments. The venue was decorated with colourful flags and cultural symbols reflecting the community’s heritage and identity.


Church leaders described the gathering as a powerful expression of shared faith and solidarity, underscoring the enduring vitality of grassroots Christian life among tribal communities of the region.
