"Youth Aspire 2025" Inspires Youth to Explore Careers in Farming

Margao, Goa, Sept. 4, 2025: Youth Aspire 2025, a two-day career-oriented programme organised by the Diocesan Youth Centre (DYC), Goa, was held on August 30 and 31 at the St. John Paul II Complex, Margao. The initiative aimed to inspire young Goans to explore career and business opportunities in farming. 45 youngsters from across the state participated in the programme, which featured expert talks, interactive sessions, and a field visit.

The overnight programme on the first day featured a Eucharistic celebration, prayer and fellowship, informative input sessions and games, all under the guidance of Fr. Blaise Lobo, Director of DYC-Goa.

Renowned speakers from Goa’s agricultural sector led the various input sessions during the programme. Miss Estella Pires, Agripreneur and Agriculture Consultant, shared her personal journey in agriculture, introduced the basics of farming, and debunked common myths associated with the field. Mr. Miguel Braganza, former Agriculture Officer with the Government of Goa, spoke on sustainable and profitable farming options that youth can pursue. Meanwhile, Mr. Vandit Naik, proprietor of RasRaj Farms Goa, highlighted the business and marketing aspects of agriculture, emphasising its potential as a viable career.

During the programme, participants also took a psychometric test to assess their aptitudes and career inclinations. The test was conducted by Mrs. Andrea D’Souza, an Assistant Professor of Psychology.

The main highlight of the programme was a field visit to KOCL farm, managed by Mr. Laban D’Souza and Mr. Kevin D’Souza. During the visit, participants explored the farm, learnt about the significance of various trees and plants, and engaged in a hands-on grafting session.

Participants lauded the programme as an enriching, eye-opening experience. They also commended the Executive Committee of the Diocesan Youth Centre, Goa, for organising a well-structured, informative event that successfully showcased farming as a viable and promising career path.
