World Day of Migrants and Refugees to Be Celebrated at Sacred Heart Cathedral, New Delhi

New Delhi, September 27, 2025: The 111th World Day of Migrants and Refugees will be celebrated at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in New Delhi on Sunday, September 28, 2025, with a Holy Eucharist at 9 a.m. Organised by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI) in collaboration with the Delhi Catholic Archdiocese’s Commission for Migrants, the celebration will centre on the theme “Migrants, Pilgrims of Hope.”

The celebration aims to highlight the struggles, hopes, and contributions of migrants across the world, calling attention to the Church’s mission to support and accompany them. The Holy Eucharist will be a solemn moment of prayer and solidarity, bringing together clergy, religious, and lay faithful to reflect on the dignity and journey of migrants as bearers of hope.

The World Day of Migrants and Refugees, instituted by the Catholic Church, is observed annually to raise awareness about migration issues and to encourage compassion and action in support of displaced persons. This year’s observance underscores the spiritual and humanitarian responsibility to view migrants not as strangers, but as fellow pilgrims seeking a better future.

All faithful, clergy, and friends are warmly invited to participate in the celebration and renew their commitment to building inclusive and compassionate communities that welcome migrants with hope and faith.
