Workshop for Social Workers to be Held in Goa - A Few Seats Available.

Benaulim, Goa, July 2, 2025: Social workers across India have a unique opportunity to deepen their skills in social analysis and project writing at a specialised workshop organised by the Conference of Catholic Bishops of India (CCBI). Scheduled from 4th to 9th August 2025, the training will take place at Shanti Sadan in Benaulim, Goa, with only four seats still available for participants.

The workshop targets social workers with a few years of grassroots experience. Divided into two parts, the programme promises both theoretical insights and practical tools essential for effective community engagement.

In Part I, participants will explore an analytical framework designed to foster a deeper understanding of critical issues shaping Indian society. Topics include structural analysis, caste, Tribals/Adivasis, gender analysis, Liberalisation, Privatisation and Globalisation (LPG), Communalism and fundamentalism, and the Rights-based approach to development. The workshop also intends to highlight the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, the Pillars of Democracy, Fundamental Rights and Duties, and the Directive Principles of State Policy, positioning them as alternatives to strengthen democracy, secularism, and diversity in India.

Part II focuses on project writing, guiding attendees through key elements such as project conceptualisation, logical framework development, budgeting, and activity scheduling.

The programme will adopt diverse teaching methods, including group work, discussions, case studies, debates, videos, and cultural performances.

By the workshop’s conclusion, participants are expected to gain two key outcomes: firstly, a comprehensive, scientific, and updated analytical framework for application in grassroots and organisational work; secondly, refined skills in project writing.

The sessions will be conducted in English, under the guidance of resource person Fr. Joe Xavier SJ.
