Vasai, Maharashtra, Sept. 9, 2025: The Mother of God Church in Palle, under the Diocese of Vasai, hosted a three-day public exposition of the first-class relic of Saint Carlo Acutis from 6 to 8 September 2025. Held at three different venues, the event attracted over 10,000 faithful from across the diocese. The exposition aimed to deepen devotion to Blessed Carlo Acutis in the run-up to his canonisation as the first millennial saint by Pope Leo XIV on 7 September.
The initiative was led by Fr. Prakash Rumao, Youth Director of Palle Parish, who coordinated with Deacon Ivan Fernandes, Director of the Diocesan Youth Centre, Mumbai, to bring the relic from Mumbai to Vasai. The organisation of the exposition was supported by members of the Mother of God Youth Group, along with the Parish Priest of Palle Parish, Fr. Milton Gonsalves, as well as Fr. John Cusher and Fr. Wilson Rebello, who ensured a prayerful and orderly experience for all attendees.
The relic was first displayed on September 6 at the DP Centre Ground following a novena Mass, attracting more than 3,000 devotees in a solemn procession and veneration. On 7 September, the relic was moved to the Mother of God Church in Palle, where thousands queued from early morning until evening to pay homage. The same evening, the relic was transferred to the Velankanni Mata Centre in Kiravli. A large number of faithful participated in the veneration of the relics that evening and on the next day as well.
The three-day veneration of Saint Carlo Acutis’ relic in the Diocese of Vasai not only provided the faithful with a unique opportunity for prayer and reflection but also served as a powerful reminder of the enduring relevance of holiness in the modern world. The event fostered a sense of spiritual renewal, especially among the youth, encouraging them to follow Saint Carlo’s example of faith, technology, and service.
