Theme Book on Journalism and AI Released at ICPA National Convention

Bengaluru, September 19, 2026: A theme book exploring the challenges and responsibilities of journalism in the age of artificial intelligence was released during the 31st National Convention of Christian Journalists and Annual General Body Meeting of the Indian Catholic Press Association (ICPA) here on September 19.

The book, titled “Humanity, Dignity and Truth: Journalism Without Compromise in the Age of AI,” brings together articles reflecting on the theme of the convention and examines the implications of artificial intelligence for journalism, human dignity and the pursuit of truth.

The book was released at the conclusion of a panel discussion on journalism, human dignity and AI held as part of the convention at Paalana Bhavana, Bengaluru.

Bishop Henry D’Souza, ecclesiastical adviser to the ICPA and Bishop of Bellary, formally released the publication. He presented the first copy to ICPA president Fr. Suresh Mathew Pallivathukal OFM Cap.

Copies were also presented to the panelists—transgender rights activist NDTV journalist Maya Sharma, journalist Liz Mathew —as well as moderator Fr Cedric Prakash and Ignatius Gonsalves, former president of the ICPA.

The publication complements the convention’s central focus on the future of journalism at a time when AI is rapidly transforming the way news is gathered, produced and consumed.

The convention, being held on September 19–20 at Paalana Bhavana, Bengaluru, brings together Catholic and Christian journalists and media professionals to reflect on the theme “Humanity, Dignity and Truth: Journalism Without Compromise in the Age of AI.”

The discussions at the convention focus on the need to harness emerging technologies while safeguarding the human values, ethical responsibility and commitment to truth that remain at the heart of journalism.
