Goa, January 9, 2026: An initiative aimed at helping young students connect with rural life and cultural roots brought together participants from across Goa during Cluster Meet II: Village Exposure Tour, organised by the Young Students Movement (YSM) – Goa Region under the leadership of the Diocesan Youth Centre – Goa. The programme was held on 8 January 2026 at Curtorim Village, with 47 students and 16 teachers from schools in North and South Goa taking part.
The Village Exposure Tour offered students an on-field experience of the rich culture and historical heritage of Curtorim village. The programme included an input session on agriculture and biodiversity by Mr Mariano Almeida and Mr Santan Rodrigues. Mr Joao Manuel Fernandes spoke on the heritage of Handi Khuris and demonstrated paddy field transplantation carried out both manually and with machines.
Fr Blaise led a brief tour of the historic Arch of Rachol, followed by a guided visit to Rachol Seminary. Mr Avelino Silveira, a professional toddy tapper, demonstrated the traditional art of coconut palm weaving.
The full-day Village Exposure Tour was coordinated by the DYC Animation Team, which kept the students engaged throughout the day with action songs and games.
