Sisters from Byrathi-Kannur Zone of CRI-Bengaluru Undertake Lenten Pilgrimage

BENGALURU, April 12, 2025 — In a heartfelt expression of faith and solidarity, thirty religious sisters from the Byrathi-Kannur Zone of the Catholic Religious of India (CRI), Bengaluru Unit, undertook a spiritual pilgrimage across Bengaluru on Friday, April 11. Organised as part of their Lenten observance, the journey was rooted in prayer, unity, and compassionate outreach.

The pilgrimage commenced in the afternoon, with the sisters embarking on their journey from Divine Mercy Church, Kannur. The sisters visited several significant religious sites and charitable institutions across the city as part of their pilgrimage. These included Infant Jesus Children’s Home in Kothanur, Christ the King Church in Byrathi, Shishu Mandir in Lingarajapuram, Our Lady of Good Health Church in Jigani, St. Francis Xavier Cathedral in Cleveland Town, and Infant Jesus Church in Viveknagar. At Christ the King Church, the sisters were warmly welcomed by parish priest Fr. Chawrappa, who offered them a special blessing for their journey.

During their visits to Infant Jesus Children’s Home and Shishu Mandir, the sisters donated fruits to the children residing in these homes.

The day was filled with moments of deep prayer, reflection, and fellowship among the sisters, who represented various congregations. Their collective pilgrimage stood as a powerful witness to shared faith, compassion, and the values of community that lie at the heart of religious life.

The pilgrimage was thoughtfully coordinated by Zone President Sr. Anitha SMI and Secretary Sr. Ashly DSS, who ensured the day’s events were both spiritually enriching and smoothly organised. Participants described the experience as deeply moving and spiritually nourishing—a true embodiment of their mission, especially during the sacred Lenten season.
