Mumbai, February 24, 2026 — The Salesian Province of Mumbai (INB) released the booklet Salesian Mission Legacy – Seminar Reflections on 17 February 2026 during a Eucharistic celebration at Don Bosco Savedi, marking a moment of reflection on the congregation’s missionary heritage and its contemporary relevance in India.
The event coincided with the visit of Fr. Pavel Zenisek, a member of the Mission Sector and the Salesian Missionary Volunteering Advisory Team in Rome. His interaction with the Province Missionary Commission, led by Fr. Michael Bansode, Provincial Delegate for Missionary Animation, offered a global perspective on evolving Salesian missionary engagement.
Participants engaged in an interactive exchange focused on strengthening missionary animation and volunteer involvement across the province. Commission members shared experiences from the field and discussed practical strategies to deepen missionary awareness within local communities.
The formal release of the booklet took place during the Eucharistic celebration hosted by Fr. Richard D’Silva, Rector of Don Bosco Savedi, where the first copies were symbolically presented to members of the local Salesian community. The liturgical setting underscored the spiritual foundations of the Salesian mission and its rootedness in faith and community life.
The publication is the outcome of the Salesian Mission Seminar held on November 11, 2025, at the Provincial House in Matunga. It features two keynote reflections delivered during the seminar along with thematic insights on missionary identity and engagement. The Missionary Commission initiated the publication after recognising the relevance of the seminar’s reflections for a wider readership.
Framed as a legacy document, the booklet honours generations of Salesians who have advanced the missionary vision of St. John Bosco across diverse cultural contexts. At the same time, it calls members of the Salesian Family to renew their commitment to mission amid contemporary social and pastoral challenges in India.
Organisers described the initiative as both a tribute to the past and a forward-looking invitation for Salesians and collaborators to live their vocation with renewed conviction, courage and hope.
