October 12, 2025:
Saint Carlo Acutis (1991–2006) was an ordinary teenager with an extraordinary love for God. Born in London and raised in Milan, he lived just fifteen years — yet left a legacy of deep faith, purity, and compassion that continues to inspire millions across the world.
Known as the “Cyber Apostle of the Eucharist,” Carlo used technology not for fame but for faith. While many young people chase likes and followers, he longed only for God to touch hearts through him. For Carlo, making Christ “go viral” was the only trend worth following.
A Living Faith
Carlo’s spirituality was practical and profound. He called the Eucharist his “highway to heaven” and from the age of seven, never missed daily Mass or the Rosary. He often spent long hours in Eucharistic Adoration, describing it as “charging his spiritual battery.” When questioned about his devotion, he responded not with argument but with quiet example — drawing many friends closer to Christ through his witness.
Virtues in Action
Carlo embodied the theological virtues of faith, hope, and charity. His faith remained firm even after being diagnosed with leukaemia at fifteen. “The Lord has given me this illness to help me grow in virtue,” he said, offering his suffering for the Pope and the Church.
His hope rested not in worldly success but in eternal life. “I am happy to die young because I have not wasted even a minute on things that do not please God,” he told his mother. His charity was practical — defending bullied classmates, feeding poor immigrants, and treating every person with dignity.
The cardinal virtues also marked his life. He used the internet prudently, saying, “The Internet is a gift, but we must not become slaves to it.” He lived justice by treating everyone equally, once standing up for a Muslim classmate who was mocked for his faith. His fortitude shone through his illness, as he accepted suffering with serenity and prayer. In temperance, he lived simply, avoiding luxury and using his money to help the poor.
Faith in the Digital Age
At just eleven, Carlo created a website documenting Eucharistic miracles worldwide — a project that later travelled to five continents. He saw the Internet as a mission field, urging others, “Don’t waste your time on useless things; you were born for eternity.”
A Saint for Our Time
Carlo faced temptations common to youth — pride, impurity, laziness — but conquered them through prayer and confession. His motto, “To always be close to Jesus, that’s my life plan,” captures the essence of his holiness.
He showed that sainthood is possible in jeans and sneakers, behind a computer screen, and in everyday acts of love. His life challenges today’s generation to measure worth not in likes, but in love.
As Mr Ajeesh Kooran beautifully put it:
“Live for the Eucharist, not for the likes — be the influencer of God like Carlo Acutis.”
Happy Feast of Saint Carlo Acutis!
