Archdiocesan Jubilee of Media and Communication Celebrated in Nagpur

Nagpur, October 14, 2025: The Archdiocesan Commission for Media and Communication, in partnership with the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Nagpur, hosted a historic Jubilee of Media and Communication on 12 October, celebrating the Archdiocese’s Jubilee Year. The day-long event at the Archdiocesan venue united nearly 60 delegates and 800 film viewers in a dynamic programme featuring a media workshop, short film competition awards, film screenings, and a Jubilee Award Ceremony. Archbishop Elias Gonsalves of Nagpur, presided, emphasising media’s role in evangelisation.

Empowering Through Media Skills

A workshop on Media and Communication Skills, was led by Dr. Shaison P. Ouseph, acclaimed director of The Face of the Faceless. Nearly 60 delegates from parishes and institutions gained insights into using media responsibly for education, evangelisation, and social transformation. Winners of the Short Film-Making Competition, launched for the Jubilee, were felicitated for their creative films promoting Gospel values and Christian principles in modern society.

Inspiring Faith Through Film

The film The Face of the Faceless was screened twice during the day, each session drawing approximately 800 viewers. Its powerful message on faith, compassion, and human dignity profoundly moved the audience. The Jubilee Award Ceremony, graced by Archbishop Elias Gonsalves, honoured individuals for exemplary service in media and communication. In his keynote address, he stated, “The vital role of media in contemporary evangelisation” must be harnessed “as a means of proclaiming truth, fostering unity, and building a culture of peace and dialogue.”

Gratitude for Collaborative Success

The event concluded with gratitude to Fr. Linto, Director of the Media Commission, Fr. Jomise, Co-director, Fr. Augustine, Youth Director of ICYM Nagpur, the NAMCOM team, and Archdiocesan youth for their meticulous planning and dedication.
