September 7, 2025:
A prayer dedicated to St. Carlo Acutis, often remembered as the “patron of the internet” and the “smile of heaven for a wounded and peaceless world,” continues to touch hearts across the globe. Carlo, a teenager from Milan who devoted his short life to the Eucharist and to spreading God’s love through modern technology, has become a beacon of hope, especially for young people seeking authenticity and faith in today’s digital age.
The prayer, recited by many pilgrims in Assisi—where Carlo’s body rests in the Sanctuary of the Spoliation, the very place where St. Francis stripped himself of earthly goods—expresses deep admiration for his joyful and holy witness.
It reads:
“Carlo, smile of heaven for this wounded and peaceless world, we praise God for your simple, joyful, and holy life. You accepted with trust to be stripped of your youth to dedicate yourself in heaven, with Jesus and Mary, to a mission of boundless love. Resting with your mortal body where Francis of Assisi stripped himself of every earthly good, you cry out with him to the world that Jesus is all our joy. Young man, full of dreams, attracted by nature, by sports, by the internet, but even more enraptured by the miracle of Jesus truly present in the Sacred Host, help us to believe that He is there alive and true, the mystical ‘highway’ that leads to heaven, and teach us to contemplate Him with Mary, in the mysteries of the Holy Rosary. Explain to us, Carlo, that, beyond every fashion, only Jesus, by uniting ourselves to Him, makes us ‘originals and not photocopies,’ truly free. Grant us know how to meet Him in every creature, but especially in the poor, so that humanity may be more just and fraternal, rich in beauty and hope, to the glory of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.”
This prayer reflects Carlo’s remarkable ability to combine ordinary teenage passions—football, computers, and photography—with an extraordinary devotion to Christ, especially in the Eucharist. His famous reminder that “the Eucharist is my highway to heaven” continues to resonate as a call to rediscover the living presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
For many, invoking St. Carlo is not just a way of seeking intercession but also of drawing closer to the values he embodied: joy, purity, compassion for the poor, and the courage to be “originals and not photocopies.”
As devotion to St. Carlo spreads, this prayer serves as a reminder that holiness is possible in every generation—even in the age of the internet.
