Pope Leo Urges Missionaries to Bring Christ’s Hope Amid Global Challenges

Vatican City, November 8, 2025:

Pope Leo XIV, in his message to the 17th National Missionary Congress held in Mexico, from 6 to 9 November, urged missionaries to “do the will of the Father” and bring Christ’s hope to a world marked by poverty, division, and the challenges of new technologies.

He recalled how the Gospel took root in Mexico by transforming — not erasing — local culture and praised Blessed Juan de Palafox y Mendoza as a model missionary who “does not dominate but loves; does not impose but serves.”

Encouraging the faithful to be “the hands of the Church” bringing renewal, the Pope prayed that Our Lady of Guadalupe, “Star of Evangelization,” guide all missionaries in their work.
