Pope Francis Thanks Faithful for Prayers from Hospital

Vatican City, March 7, 2025: Pope Francis expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the faithful praying for his recovery, assuring them of his spiritual closeness.

"I thank you with all my heart for the prayers you offer for my health from St. Peter’s Square. I accompany you from here. May God bless you, and may the Virgin protect you. Thank you," he said in a message recorded in Spanish.

The message, a response to the outpouring of love and support he has received since being admitted to the hospital on 14 February, was broadcast in St. Peter’s Square at 9 pm on Friday. The recording marked the beginning of the Rosary prayer, led by Cardinal Ángel Fernández Artime, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for the Institutes of Consecrated Life and the Societies of Apostolic Life.

Since Monday, 24 February, thousands of believers have gathered in St Peter’s Square alongside Cardinals residing in Rome, Roman Curia officials, and members of the Diocese of Rome to recite the Holy Rosary for the Pope’s recovery. Pope Francis is currently being treated for pneumonia at the Gemelli Hospital.
