KURNOOL, Andhra Pradesh, April 24, 2025 – A solemn foundation stone laying ceremony for a new building of St. Joseph’s High School (CBSE) was held on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Bishop’s House campus in Kurnool. The event was led by Kurnool Diocese Bishop Most Rev. Gorantla Johannes and Nellore Coadjutor Bishop Most Rev. Pilli Anthony Das.
The programme began with a prayer service featuring an opening prayer, scripture reading, and prayer of the faithful. Following this, Bishop Johannes delivered a final prayer and blessings, invoking divine guidance for the success of the project. A traditional breaking of the coconut ceremony ensued, symbolising an auspicious beginning.
The highlight of the ceremony was the formal laying of the foundation stone by the two bishops at the designated site.
After laying the stone, Bishop Johannes addressed the gathering. He emphasised the vision behind the new school, describing it as an institution that will nurture young minds, build character, and impart wisdom. He assured the gathered students that the diocese is committed to providing the best educational facilities for them.
Present at the event were Fr. O. Jojireddy, Diocesan Procurator; Fr. B. Marreddy, Nandyal Dean; Fr. Andrew; Fr. Innareddy; Fr. Praveen; Fr. Prasanna; along with sisters belonging to the St. Anne’s Bangalore congregation, school staff, and students.
The event concluded with Bishop Johannes requesting prayers from all priests, religious sisters, and attendees for the successful and timely completion of the new building.
The new school building is expected to serve as a beacon of learning and moral development for the children of Kurnool Diocese.
