Poona Diocese Welcomes Relic and Statue of Blessed Carlo Acutis

Pune, October 10, 2025 — The Diocese of Poona is witnessing a wave of devotion as the first-degree relic and statue of Blessed Carlo Acutis travel across its parishes, drawing crowds of faithful eager to venerate the young saint-in-the-making.

The initiative, organised by the diocesan youth ministry, aims to inspire young people and the wider Catholic community by highlighting Carlo’s witness as a modern disciple who used technology to spread the Gospel. His life, centred on a deep love for the Eucharist and a conviction that “the Eucharist is my highway to heaven,” continues to capture the imagination of believers worldwide.

Wherever the relic and statue have arrived, parish communities have responded with prayer, reverence, and a renewed commitment to faith. Priests, religious, and laity have welcomed the relic as a tangible reminder of holiness that can be lived out in everyday life. Parishioners, particularly the youth, have been struck by Carlo’s message that sanctity is not reserved for the extraordinary but is possible through ordinary means lived with extraordinary love.

Fr. Rohan Gawdhya, Youth Director of the Diocese, said the veneration has become a moment of spiritual renewal. “Blessed Carlo shows us that holiness is achievable today, not only in the past. His witness speaks directly to young people, reminding them that faith is not a burden but a joy. The response across the Diocese has been overwhelming.”

The relic’s journey has also showcased the vibrancy of Catholic faith beyond Pune city. Communities have demonstrated hospitality and heartfelt devotion, turning each gathering into a celebration of unity and grace. The presence of the relic has encouraged Eucharistic reverence and prompted many to reflect on the centrality of prayer in daily life.

For parishioners, Blessed Carlo’s story resonates deeply: a teenager who combined his passion for technology with his love for Christ, building a digital archive of Eucharistic miracles before his death at just 15. His example continues to inspire a new generation to use their gifts for God and the good of others.

As the veneration tour continues, diocesan leaders hope the momentum will not end with the relic’s departure but will translate into lasting devotion and a deeper embrace of holiness in everyday living. “We pray that Blessed Carlo intercedes for our Diocese,” Fr Gawdhya said, “and that his life continues to inspire many to follow Christ with joy and conviction.”

The journey of the relic and statue has become more than a devotional event — it is a reminder that sainthood is within reach, even in the digital age.
