Darjeeling, January 21, 2025: The Diocesan Convention of the Holy Childhood marked a pivotal moment in the Diocese of Darjeeling's preparations for the Jubilee 2025 celebrations. Over 700 participants gathered for the event, held from January 6th to 9th, 2025, which was organized by Fr. Swid, Sr. Matilda Thapa SJC, and the Holy Childhood Coordinators, highlighting the unity and spirit of the Holy Childhood community.
The convention was officially inaugurated by His Lordship, Stephen Lepcha, who celebrated a solemn Holy Eucharist to begin the event. One of the key sessions focused on the theme of Jubilee 2025, "Pilgrims of Hope," which was expertly led by Fr. Urgen Thomas and Fr. Ronald. The event featured a placard that introduced children to the Vatican Council's documents and the significance of the Jubilee, along with its emblem, providing an engaging and informative learning experience.
Fr. Chrispin Tamang and Miss Simran Merlin delivered an insightful presentation on the Sacraments, helping attendees deepen their understanding of this essential aspect of Catholic faith. A particularly important part of the convention was the sacrament of reconciliation, which aligns with the Jubilee’s focus on spiritual renewal.
The convention also addressed vital topics such as ecology and mental health, offering an inclusive perspective on the Church's role in promoting holistic well-being. The event culminated in a vibrant cultural program, where young children showcased their talents, adding a joyful and celebratory atmosphere to the gathering.
Overall, the Diocesan Convention was a resounding success, providing a meaningful and enriching experience for the participants as they prepare for the upcoming Jubilee celebrations in 2025.
