Bhalki, Karnataka, November 9, 2025: The Diocese of Gulbarga celebrated the Bhalki Jathrotsava 2025 with great devotion and joy from 7th to 9th November the unit people and youth came together and performed various activities. The three-day celebration became a symbol of faith and unity, drawing pilgrims from across the region.
The festival was inaugurated with the hoisting of the Jathra Flag on 1st November by the Apostolic Nuncio to India. On 7th November, Bishop Robert Miranda of Gulbarga, along with Fr. Santhosh Bapu and Fr. David Antony, formally opened the Jathrotsava by releasing doves symbolising peace in Christ.
A grand procession through the town, featuring devotional dances, tableaux, and flags, carried the image of the Infant Jesus to the Shrine. Bishop Miranda led the Novena prayer, followed by the Holy Eucharist, marking the beginning of the celebrations.
Over the next two days, the faithful participated in bhajans, Bible reflections, and Eucharistic celebrations. The highlight was a Festive Mass presided over by Bishop Miranda, followed by a large Annadasoha that served thousands of devotees.
The Diocesan Cultural Fest brought vibrancy with performances by youth groups, Bible competition winners, and cultural programmes. Distinguished guests including Shree Shree Dr. Pattadevaru of Bhalki and Shree Karuneshwara Swami of Aland graced the event. Bishop Miranda, in his address, urged all to become “Communicators of Hope” and presented awards to outstanding contributors to faith and service.
The festival concluded with a solemn Eucharist celebrated by Bishop Henry D’Souza of Bellary, joined by Bishop Miranda and other clergy. The lowering of the Jathra Flag marked the peaceful conclusion of Bhalki Jathrotsava 2025.
Organised under the leadership of Fr. David Antony, the event stood as a witness to faith, love, and unity, inspiring pilgrims with the message: “Faith in Action – Christ in the Heart of Every Pilgrim.”
