Patna Archdiocese Holds Renewal Seminar for Young Couples

PATNA, October 6, 2026: Twenty-one couples in the first ten years of their married life participated in a Young Couples Renewal Seminar organised by the Family Commission of the Archdiocese of Patna at Navjyoti Niketan, Patna.

Held at the Patna Deanery level, the seminar sought to help young couples deepen their love for one another, strengthen family life and build their families on the foundation of faith and the Word of God. It was organised under the leadership of Sr. Blessy, Secretary of the Family Commission, along with Fr. Dharam Kishore and Mr. Vijender.

Fr. Vimal Kishore, SJ, Provincial of the Patna Jesuit Province, who was the Chief Guest, reflected on the beauty and responsibility of family life, encouraging couples to nurture their relationships with patience, understanding, care and commitment. He also highlighted the importance of loving and caring for their children, spending quality time with them and creating a joyful and loving atmosphere at home.

Mr. Vijender led a session on the importance of the Word of God and prayer in family life, encouraging couples to make the Bible and family prayer an integral part of their homes. Sr. Blessy conducted an interactive session on “Building a Strong Foundation for Family Life”, through Bible quotations, activities and group discussion. The couples identified love, trust, communication, forgiveness, prayer, understanding, commitment and the Word of God as important foundations of family life.

The couples also expressed a desire to participate regularly in church life and continue coming together for such gatherings, where young couples can share their experiences, support one another and learn from each other.

Eucharistic Adoration led by Mr. Vijender provided a moment for the couples to reflect on love, forgiveness and reconciliation. They were encouraged to say sorry to one another, pray for each other and place their families in the presence of Jesus.

The Holy Eucharist, celebrated by Fr. Dharam Kishore, included the renewal of marriage vows. Standing together before the Lord, the couples renewed the promises they had made to one another on their wedding day, reaffirming their commitment to walk together in love, faithfulness and mutual support throughout their married journey.

The seminar offered the participating couples an opportunity to reflect on their vocation to marriage, strengthen their relationship with one another and renew their commitment to Christ and their families.

The seminar reaffirmed the mission of the Family Commission of the Archdiocese of Patna to accompany young families and help them become joyful, faith-filled and Christ-centred domestic churches, where love, prayer and the Word of God become the foundation of everyday life.
