CALCUTTA, October 6, 2026: About 300 pilgrims from 21 parishes gathered at St. Teresa’s Church, Moulali, on October 3 for the Calcutta Marian Congress, which centred on prayer, reflection and renewing commitment to the message of Fatima in parish life.
The Congress opened with the Morning Offering and a Rosary procession through the streets, followed by the crowning of the statue of Our Lady of Fatima and First Saturday meditation. Archbishop Elias Frank shared his personal devotion to Our Lady of Fatima and expressed his desire to lead a delegation to Fatima next year.
The programme featured reflections on the Fatima message and Marian spirituality. Fr. Sunny spoke on the message of Fatima, while Fr. Sunil Rosario led a reflection on the meditative Rosary. Dr. Celcio Dias focused on the faith of Saints Francisco and Jacinta.
Fr. Onshu Gayen offered practical guidance on strengthening Marian devotion in parish life, while Lester DeMello urged participants to carry the experience of the Congress into their parishes as a continuing mission.
Fr. Benjamin of the Missionaries of Charity recalled St. Teresa of Kolkata’s devotion to Our Lady of Fatima, noting that a statue of Our Lady of Fatima stands at her tomb. He highlighted her commitment to prayer, penance and reparation, including her observance of Saturday meals without salt and her participation in First Saturday processions.
During Eucharistic Adoration, the pilgrims prayed the sung Divine Mercy Chaplet before the Blessed Sacrament. Fr. Basil Mandi reflected on the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Five First Saturdays before leading the consecration of St. Teresa’s parish to the Immaculate Heart.
The Congress concluded with the Fatima Farewell, as the Pilgrim Virgin Statue and relics were taken out in a solemn procession accompanied by the Fatima Anthem, waving white handkerchiefs and the choir singing Salve Regina.
