The celebration, organised by the Parish Environment Commission, sought to deepen awareness of environmental stewardship inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato Si’. The programme commenced with a welcome address by Sr. Theresa Mascarenhas, SCB, Director of the Parish Environment Commission. He highlighted the importance of adopting sustainable lifestyles and caring for the Earth as a shared gift from God.
A major highlight of the event was an environmental awareness procession led by the children around the church premises. Carrying placards and chanting slogans promoting environmental protection, water conservation, and care for nature, the young participants conveyed a powerful message of ecological responsibility to the wider community.
The celebration also featured the planting of coconut saplings on the church campus, symbolising the parish’s commitment to nurturing and preserving the environment for future generations.
