Cheibopouzou, Nagaland, February 22, 2025: An orientation program for the Young Catholic Students (YCS) unit of St. Dominic Parish, Cheibopouzou, was held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. Don Bosco High School, Cheibopouzou. The event aimed to introduce and educate participants about the objectives and significance of the YCS movement. A total of 58 students, along with assistant catechists, school and catechism teachers, and MSMHC sisters, participated in the program.
The event commenced with an opening prayer led by Rev. Fr. Abraham, the parish priest of St. Dominic Parish, Cheibopouzou, followed by a welcome address from Miss Silvia Shiveine, YCS Animator of SFS Parish.
The first session, titled “What is YCS and its Relevance,” was conducted by Sr. Mariyam, MSMHC, Lady Animator of Nagaland Catholic Youth Movement and YCS Coordinator of Kohima Diocese. She provided valuable insights into the vision, mission, and role of YCS in shaping the faith and character of young Catholic students.
Following a brief break, Rocky Chapao, YCS Coordinator of SFS Parish, Kohima Town, led an engaging animation session that energised the participants. The program continued with a Cell Meeting, where attendees were divided into groups to discuss key aspects of YCS. Group secretaries later presented their reports, fostering interactive learning and a deeper understanding of YCS structures and operations.
The orientation program was marked by enthusiastic participation, creating a spirit of learning and collaboration among young Catholic students. The event reinforced their commitment to the YCS movement and its guiding principles, further strengthening the faith community at St. Dominic Parish, Cheibopouzou.
