Hundreds Gather for Vasai Inter-Deanery Altar Servers Rally in a Powerful Display of Faith

Vasai, February 21, 2025— Hundreds of young altar servers from across Vasai participated in two spiritually enriching Inter-Deanery Altar Servers' Rallies organized by Jeevan Jyoti, the Diocesan Commission for Catechesis & Catechetics. Held on separate dates in North and South Vasai, the events provided a platform for young Catholics to deepen their commitment to the Eucharist and their parish communities.

The South Vasai rally, bringing together 180 altar servers and 25 animators from 16 parishes, took place on February 10 at Infant Jesus Mass Centre, Merces. Presided over by His Lordship Bishop Thomas D'Souza, the event was marked by faith-filled activities and personal reflections. The Bishop shared his first experience as an altar server, inspiring the youth to continue their service with dedication and devotion.

Three days later, on February 13, the North Vasai rally was held at St. Paul Church, Nanbhat, drawing 220 altar servers and 30 animators from 18 parishes of the Nirmal-Nandakhal Deaneries. The event featured an inspiring talk that encouraged the young altar servers to embrace their sacred calling to serve Christ at the altar.

Both rallies featured a solemn procession with faith-based placards and devotional hymns, creating an atmosphere of prayer and reflection. Participants also engaged in gospel action songs, adding to the spirit of joy and community.

Presided over by Bishop Thomas D'Souza, the gatherings served as a reminder of the vital role altar servers play in the liturgical life of the Church. Through moments of reflection, prayer, and community-building, the young servers were encouraged to continue their mission of faith and service.
