St. Margaret Mary Alacoque is closely associated with the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Why pray the St Margaret Mary Alacoque Novena?

The Sacred Heart devotion reminds us of the depth of Christ's love—a love that remains faithful even when we struggle, fall or feel distant from God.

Praying the St Margaret Mary Alacoque novena can therefore become an opportunity to bring your whole life before Jesus. You can pray for a personal intention, a family member, healing in a relationship, guidance in an important decision, or simply the grace to love Christ more deeply.

Rather than approaching the novena only with a list of requests, allow it to become nine days of surrender. Tell Jesus honestly what is weighing on your heart and ask St Margaret Mary to intercede for you.

A Novena of Trust

St. Margaret Mary's spirituality centred on confidence in the love of Jesus. Her witness encourages you to remain faithful even when prayer seems unanswered or circumstances become difficult.

As you pray this novena, you might begin each day by quietly placing your intention before the Sacred Heart. Ask for the grace to accept God's will, especially when it differs from what you had hoped for.

You can then pray the day's novena prayer, followed by an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be, or another prayer that forms part of your usual devotion.
