National Symposium Marking 50 Years of 'Evangelii Nuntiandi' to Be Held in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, November 15, 2025: St. Peter’s Pontifical Institute, Bengaluru, is set to host a National Symposium on 9–10 December 2025 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Evangelii Nuntiandi, Pope Paul VI’s landmark Apostolic Exhortation on evangelisation in the modern world. The event, organised by the Department of Missiology, will also honour the legacy of the late Prof. Dr Félix Wilfred, a leading theologian whose scholarship shaped contemporary missiological thought.

The symposium will gather missiologists, theologians, pastoral leaders, and scholars from across India to reflect on the enduring relevance and prophetic insights of Evangelii Nuntiandi. According to the institute, the year 2025 marks the golden jubilee of the document, offering an important moment for the Church in India to revisit its call to proclamation and evangelisation.

The organisers have announced that registration for the symposium is free, with food and accommodation arranged for participants travelling from distant regions. The institute has also requested dioceses and congregations to encourage priests and commission members—particularly those working in SC/ST, Ecumenism, Dialogue, and Proclamation ministries—to participate.
