Mangalore Diocese Launches Catechetical Year 2025 with Theme "Faith Formed, Hope Filled"

Mangalore, June 9, 2025: The Diocese of Mangalore officially commenced its Catechetical Year 2025 on Sunday, June 8, with inaugural services and special Masses held across all parishes of the diocese. The events in each parish marked the beginning of a year-long spiritual journey themed “Faith Formed, Hope Filled”. This theme will guide catechetical instruction and reflection throughout the coming months in parishes across the diocese.

Each parish in the diocese held a special inaugural service prior to the main Mass, gathering key participants, including the Parish Priest, the vice president of the parish’s pastoral council (PPC), the catechetical coordinator of the parish, catechism teachers, students, and their parents. This inclusive gathering highlighted the collaborative commitment of each parish community to the shared mission of faith formation.

A highlight of the Mass celebrated in each parish of the diocese was the solemn oath-taking ceremony by the catechists following the homily. By taking the oath, the catechists affirmed their dedication to their ministry of catechesis and the mission of the Church.

Sunday Catechism classes, a cornerstone of the Catechetical Year, will continue until the end of March 2026, offering consistent opportunities for spiritual instruction and growth for students throughout the diocese.

The successful organisation of this inaugural event in all parishes of the diocese was a collaborative effort by the Diocesan Catechetical Centre and the CCBI Commission for Faith Formation, under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Vijay Machado (Director, Diocesan Catechetical Centre), Rev. Fr. Rohit D'Costa (Designate Director, CCBI Diocesan Catechetical Centre ), and Rev. Dr. Vincent Sequera (Assistant Director, Diocesan Catechetical Centre).
