Chennai, August 26, 2025: The Archdiocesan Liturgy Commission successfully organised the Jubilee 2025 Vatican Council II quiz competition award and certificate distribution ceremony on August 24, which drew participation from over 200 faithful. The event, held at the Pastoral Centre, was presided over by Archbishop George Antonysamy of Madras-Mylapore, who personally presented awards and certificates to the participants.
The competition, focused on the Documents of the Second Vatican Council, sought to enlighten minds and inspire hearts by deepening the understanding of Church teachings. Participants had earlier engaged in quizzes and study sessions on the working documents, forming an integral part of the Jubilee year preparations.
Fr. Richie Vincent delivered a thought-provoking address on the significance of Jubilee 2025, with particular reference to Sacrosanctum Concilium, offering fresh insights and inspiration for the faithful. Fr. Richard, Youth Director of the Archdiocese, was also present and provided valuable support throughout the event.
Adding further distinction to the occasion, Fr. Devenesan, Pastoral Director of the Archdiocese, took part in the ceremony and personally distributed certificates to participants, recognising their dedication and efforts in the Jubilee preparations.
The proceedings included a solemn procession from the Pastoral Centre to the Cathedral, culminating in a Holy Mass of Thanksgiving at the National Basilica of Saint Thomas, presided over by Fr. Vincent Chinnadurai, during which gratitude was offered for the faithful’s engagement in the Jubilee celebrations.
A notable feature of the day was an exhibition showcasing the creative contributions of 100 participants. Each exhibitor presented reflections on their learning from the quiz competition, offering a compelling glimpse into the rich diversity of thought emerging from across the Archdiocese.
Rev. Fr. K. Arul Jesu Doss, Secretary of the Archdiocesan Liturgy Commission, expressed profound gratitude to all parish priests who encouraged parishioners to participate, acknowledging their significant role in the success of the event.
