Legal Empowerment Workshop To be held For Catholic Institutuons in Tamilnadu

Tamil Nadu, November 17, 2025 — A statewide online legal empowerment workshop for Christian institutions and communities was announced by the Tamil Nadu Bishops’ Council (TNBC), the Tamil Nadu Conference of Religious India (TNCRI), and the Katholische Vereinigung Indiens (KVI). The initiative, organised to strengthen legal awareness and constitutional responsibility, will be conducted through a shared online link circulated to bishops, major superiors, and institutional leaders across Tamil Nadu to ensure maximum participation.

In the joint circular, Archbishop George Antonysamy, President of TNBC, and Dr Maria Philomi, President of TNCRI, stressed the workshop’s purpose and the need for full engagement from Church leadership. Reiterating the objective of the programme, the circular affirmed that the session is solely an empowerment initiative and “politically neutral.” It also reminded participants that “Eternal vigilance is the price of Democracy,” calling for collective awareness and responsibility at a time requiring informed citizenship.

The effort reflects a coordinated attempt by TNBC, TNCRI and KVI to equip Christian institutions in Tamil Nadu with essential legal understanding to safeguard their rights, comply with regulatory requirements and foster responsible public engagement.
