Sehore, March 22, 2026: A half-day training programme for lectors was organised at St. Theresa Church, bringing together parishioners from the Sehore Deanery to strengthen their role in proclaiming Scripture during liturgical celebrations.
The initiative, conducted by the Archdiocese of Bhopal’s Commission for Proclamation, aimed to provide both practical training and spiritual formation for those involved in or preparing for the ministry of lector.
The sessions were led by Fr. Raju Mathew, who guided participants through the responsibilities associated with reading the Word of God in public worship. The programme combined theoretical inputs with practical exercises, focusing on voice modulation, clarity of speech, and correct pronunciation.
Participants were also introduced to the theological significance of Scripture within the liturgy, along with reflections on the discipline and preparation expected of lectors. Interactive segments allowed attendees to practise readings and receive feedback to improve delivery.
Organisers noted active participation throughout the session, with attendees showing interest in developing both their communication skills and understanding of the ministry.
At the end of the programme, certificates were distributed to participants. Officials from the archdiocese said such initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to improve liturgical participation at the parish level and indicated that similar training sessions would be held in the future.
