Bangalore, Dec 22, 2025: Bringing together senior political leaders, top government officials, and distinguished guests, the VIP Christmas Get-together of the Archdiocese of Bangalore was held at the Archbishop’s House on December 20 to celebrate the joy and spirit of Christmas.
The celebration was graced by Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka D. K. Shivakumar; Leader of the Opposition (BJP) Chalavadi Narayanaswamy; Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh, IPS; and Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Authority M. Maheshwar Rao, IAS, along with several other dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Minister echoed the true spirit of secularism, fondly recalling his education in a Christian institution. He acknowledged the immense contribution of the Catholic Church in the upliftment and transformation of society through its selfless service.
Praising the Catholic Church for its peaceful presence and its consistent efforts in fostering harmony and social cohesion in society, Shri Chalavadi Narayanaswamy commended its role.
Sharing the Christmas message, Archbishop Peter Machado highlighted the Church’s commitment to the poor, the vulnerable, and especially migrants. Referring to the Pope Francis Migrants Centre, he spoke about how the Archdiocese continues to reach out to migrants with compassion, dignity, and concrete support, inspired by the vision of Pope Francis. In his words, “Christmas reminds us that God chooses to dwell among the vulnerable. When we walk with migrants, the poor, and the forgotten, we truly live the Gospel and make hope visible in our society.”
The Archbishop felicitated all the dignitaries and expressed his gratitude for their dedicated public service and for joining hands with the Church in building a society rooted in Gospel values of justice, peace, and fraternity.
