Kanara Entrepreneurs Launches Startup Builder Cohort 2026 in Bengaluru

BENGALURU, September 7, 2026: Kanara Entrepreneurs (KE), Bengaluru Chapter, has launched the Startup Builder Cohort 2026, a six-month programme aimed at helping aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs turn business ideas into viable ventures.

The programme, scheduled from October 10, 2026, to March 2027, will admit a maximum of 20 participants, allowing for intensive mentoring, peer learning and individual attention. It is primarily designed for first-time founders, aspiring entrepreneurs and founders of businesses less than two years old.

Unlike conventional classroom-based entrepreneurship programmes, Startup Builder emphasises learning by doing. Participants will be required to work on their ventures both during weekly sessions and between sessions through customer interviews, market research, prototype testing and other field assignments.

The programme will be conducted every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Konkan Samudhai Bhavan, Kalyan Nagar, Bengaluru. Breakfast and lunch will be provided during the sessions.

Seven-stage startup journey

The curriculum, titled “The Seven-Part Climb,” takes participants through key stages of building a startup — from developing an entrepreneurial mindset to scaling a business.

The programme begins with Becoming an Entrepreneur, focusing on mindset, ownership and risk. Opportunity Validation introduces market sizing and customer discovery, followed by Building a Better Solution, which covers competition, value proposition and business models.

Participants then progress to Building the First Product, including minimum viable product development, pricing and securing their first paying customers. Finding Product-Market Fit focuses on customer retention, cohorts and startup economics, while the final stages — Growth and Scaling — address growth strategies, team building, capital, systems, governance and business defensibility.

Practical assignments form a central component of the programme. Participants are expected to conduct five to 10 customer interviews each week, undertake market research, study competitors, test prototypes, experiment with pricing and work on unit economics.

The programme's philosophy is that participants should demonstrate measurable progress rather than merely complete lessons.

Participants are required to attend at least 20 of the 24–26 sessions and complete the prescribed field assignments.

Open to aspiring and early-stage founders

Individuals aged 21 and above can apply with an idea, concept, prototype or very early-stage business. A registered company is not required.

The programme also welcomes professionals considering entrepreneurship and successors to family businesses at the pre-revenue or early-revenue stage. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a serious commitment to building a venture rather than seeking only funding or networking opportunities.

Selection will involve four stages: written application review, shortlisting and independent evaluation, a founder interview and final cohort selection.

Applicants will be assessed on entrepreneurial intent, clarity of the problem they seek to address, founder suitability, learning mindset, commitment, market potential, values and integrity.

Demo Day and Certification

Participants who complete the programme will have an opportunity to present their validated ideas or prototypes at a Demo Day before investors, mentors and members of the startup ecosystem.

Graduates will receive certification from Kanara Entrepreneurs and access to incubator partner networks. Ventures considered ready for further development may also be given an opportunity to progress to the organisation's Advanced Cohort.

The early-bird programme fee is ₹8,000 plus 18% GST, or ₹9,440 including GST, for registrations completed by September 20. The amount can also be paid in two instalments of ₹4,720 each.

After September 20, the fee will be ₹10,000 plus GST, with two instalments of ₹5,900 each.

Applications are being accepted online, with the form expected to take about 10–15 minutes to complete. Applicants may also submit an optional one-page concept note or a two- to three-minute video pitch. Selection interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis.

For programme and application-related queries, applicants can contact Cheryl, Admin – KE Bengaluru Chapter, at 9611793660 or admn.keblr@gmail.com.

Through the Startup Builder Cohort, Kanara Entrepreneurs aims to help aspiring founders move from discussing business ideas to testing them in the market and building sustainable enterprises.
